Thung Si Mueang, Ubon Ratchathani ,

Thung Si Mueang, also known as the heart of the city, is a beautifully landscaped public park located in the center of Ubon Ratchathani. It was once the ruler’s rice paddy fields, but it was turned into a public park and venue for festivals during the reign of King Rama V. The park features several attractions, including a City Pillar Shrine, a monument of Phra Pathum Worarat Suriyawong or Chao Kham Phong, a sculpture of Somdet Phra Maha Wirawong or Tisso Uan, a monument of Goodness built by WWII PoWs to honor the generosity of the people of Ubon Ratchathani, and a sculpture of Harmony and Progress representing the harmony of four countries; Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, and Vietnam. The park is open from 5:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. and is a great spot for visitors to relax and take in the local culture and history.
